Описание вакансии

Текст:

TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Nuclear): Designing and delivering high-temperature process piping, pressure vessels, and pressure-retaining components for a nuclear fuel recycling facility with an accent on thermal and stress analysis, ASME code compliance, materials selection, and hot-cell operability. Focus on developing equipment from first principles through fabrication, testing, installation, commissioning, and operational support while solving complex challenges involving molten salt, vacuum, inert atmospheres, thermal cycling, remote maintenance, and nuclear quality requirements.

Location: Santa Clara, California or remote within the United States. Remote employees must travel to the Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter based on business or team needs, and work in person at headquarters for the first two weeks of onboarding. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship. The position may involve access to information subject to U.S. export control laws, and eligibility as a U.S. person may be required.

Salary: $175,000–$210,000 per year

Company

hirify.global is developing fast fission power plants, nuclear fuel recycling technologies, and a domestic supply chain for critical radioisotopes.

What you will do

  • Serve as the technical expert for high-temperature process piping, pressure vessels, pressure boundaries, and supporting components for the Oak Ridge Fuel Recycling Facility.
  • Develop design bases, code-compliant calculations, load combinations, service-life requirements, and acceptance criteria for piping and vessel systems.
  • Perform and review piping stress, pressure vessel, thermal, fatigue, creep, buckling, seismic, and coupled thermal-mechanical analyses.
  • Select materials and develop designs for vessels, piping, nozzles, flanges, closures, supports, restraints, expansion joints, bellows, and penetrations.
  • Coordinate interfaces with process equipment, hot-cell penetrations, confinement boundaries, structures, utilities, instrumentation, and remote-handling systems.
  • Support fabrication, supplier technical reviews, quality requirements, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, root-cause evaluations, and mentoring of other engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience with process piping, pressure vessels, high-temperature systems, or related stress and thermal analyses.
  • Working knowledge of ASME B31.3 and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII.
  • Strong understanding of thermal expansion, fatigue, creep, buckling, nozzle loads, pipe supports, pressure boundaries, and elevated-temperature materials.
  • Experience with calculations, specifications, data sheets, drawings, fabrication, welding, nondestructive examination, pressure testing, and inspection.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship; U.S. person eligibility may be required for export-controlled information.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D., professional engineering registration, or the ability to obtain Tennessee licensure.
  • Experience with molten salt, inert gas, vacuum, nuclear hot-cell, fuel-cycle systems, or elevated-temperature and corrosion-resistant alloys.
  • Experience with ASME Section VIII Division 2, design-by-analysis, fatigue, buckling, creep, seismic qualification, or coupled thermal-mechanical analysis.
  • Experience with CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, ANSYS, Abaqus, COMPRESS, PV Elite, Mathcad, or similar tools.
  • Experience with nuclear quality assurance, design control, supplier quality, weld qualification, nondestructive examination, and acceptance testing.

Culture & Benefits

  • Startup environment emphasizing ownership, collaboration, creativity, technical rigor, and efficient decision-making.
  • Flexible time off, flexible work hours, wellness credits, and equity and bonus opportunities.
  • 401(k), employer-contributed health insurance, HSA, and FSA.
  • Remote work is available with recurring travel to the Santa Clara headquarters and an in-person onboarding period.
  • Employment may be contingent on successful drug screening, with testing potentially required in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
