Mechanical Engineering Intern (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time, on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027

What you will do

• Support the development of new spacecraft concepts and mechanical hardware.
• Build and test designs to verify performance in extreme space environments.
• Help deliver tested hardware to the spacecraft integration team.
• Apply engineering concepts to solve practical hardware development challenges.
• Work with mentors, supervisors, and cross-functional engineering teams while providing progress updates.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral program in aerospace, aeronautical, astronautical, or mechanical engineering.
• Must have at least one semester remaining after the internship.
• GPA of at least 3.0.
• At least 3 months of applied engineering experience through internships, laboratory work, or personal/team projects.
• Must be able to work full-time on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks.
• U.S. office roles are subject to ITAR eligibility and require U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, qualifying refugee/asylee status, or the ability to obtain applicable authorization.

Nice to have

• GPA of 3.5 or above and at least 6 months of applied engineering experience.
• CAD/CAM experience with NX and Teamcenter.
• Finite Element Analysis experience with ANSYS, Simcenter 3D, or FEMAP/NASTRAN.
• Experience with 3D printing, GD&T, lathe machining, or spacecraft design principles.
