What you will do
- Lead and develop a cross-functional EHS team supporting research and development, laboratories, manufacturing, construction, and facility operations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, safety, industrial hygiene, laboratory safety, and hazardous-material programs.
- Manage regulatory compliance, inspections, audits, permits, reports, and relationships with vendors and external agencies.
- Drive job hazard analyses, risk controls, emergency response planning, safety training, and employee engagement activities.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and report findings to management and regulators.
- Analyze safety performance data, identify trends, reduce incident rates, and improve EHS systems through the OKR process.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, occupational health and safety, or a related field.
- 5+ years managing EHS programs and 5+ years of direct management experience.
- Expertise in an EHS discipline and strong knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations, hazard controls, incident investigation, and risk assessment.
- Experience leading teams, developing safety culture, reducing recordable incidents, and communicating with operational, technical, research, maintenance, construction, and management functions.
- The role is onsite in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and involves work in a facility subject to Department of Energy Part 810 export-control restrictions.
- Ability to work around hazardous materials, including beryllium-containing materials, use required PPE, access elevated or confined areas, and support emergency response activities.
Nice to have
- Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.
- Experience supporting EHS activities across research and development, laboratories, manufacturing, construction, and facility operations.
