Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

Location: Onsite in Penrose, Colorado, with an eventual transition to Pueblo, Colorado. Applicants must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain and maintain applicable explosives licenses and export authorizations.

Salary: $70,000–$100,000 USD annually, excluding benefits and bonus or incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, audit, and continuously improve EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, ATF explosives, DOT, PHMSA, DoD safety requirements, environmental regulations, and ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
• Identify and assess risks and hazards related to new processes, equipment, and materials.
• Conduct incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective and preventive actions.
• Support environmental compliance, industrial hygiene exposure strategies, chemical hazard evaluations, and SDS management.
• Maintain Emergency Response and HazMat readiness, coordinate with external agencies, and participate in the Emergency Response Team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in EHS with at least 2 years of experience, a master’s degree in EHS with at least 1 year of experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent with 5 or more years of progressive EHS experience.
• Experience across multiple EHS disciplines, including safety, environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT HazMat, ATF explosives, and environmental regulations.
• Experience conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Ability to influence safety performance through formal and informal leadership.
• Must meet U.S. Person, explosives licensing, drug-free workplace, background investigation, and applicable export authorization requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in chemical, space, or defense manufacturing.
• Relevant EHS certifications, including HazMat or Emergency Response training or certification.
