EH&S Specialist (Bioethanol)

Location: On-site in Preston, MN, United States

Salary: $80,000–$110,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead environmental, health, and safety programs at a bioprocessing facility.
• Act as the primary liaison with government agencies and the local expert on environmental compliance.
• Manage permits and compliance areas including hazardous waste, stormwater, RMP, SPCC, and related state and federal requirements.
• Lead audits, incident investigations, reporting, sampling, safety observations, and corrective actions.
• Deliver safety and environmental training for team members and contractors.
• Maintain EH&S programs, permits, records, training documentation, and safety committee activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• National Safety Council Advanced Safety Certificate, or the ability to obtain it within six months; ASP, CSP, or Professional Engineer credentials may substitute.
• Knowledge of environmental permits, safety regulations, documentation, record keeping, and organizational processes.
• Ability to learn bioprocessing operations, including air and water environmental permits.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, critical-thinking, training, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work on-site in a safety-sensitive plant, laboratory, and office environment and meet physical requirements, including climbing, lifting, walking, working at heights, and wearing PPE.

Nice to have

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental science, or engineering, or 8+ years of EH&S experience.
• OSHA, DOT Hazmat, HAZWOPER, or equivalent professional development.
• Construction safety or workers’ compensation administration experience.
• Higher-level safety certification and demonstrated EH&S culture improvement experience.
