Staff R&D Project Manager (Robotics)

What you will do

• Plan and execute electro-mechanical Power Tools projects across scope, schedule, cost, quality, and phase-gate milestones.
• Manage integrated schedules, work breakdown structures, critical paths, project budgets, forecasts, earned value tracking, RAID logs, and change control.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, firmware, systems, verification and validation, quality, regulatory, supply chain, operations, manufacturing, and supplier workstreams.
• Plan prototype, EVT, DVT, PVT, verification, validation, process validation, design transfer, manufacturing readiness, and product launch activities.
• Drive design controls, technical documentation, regulatory deliverables, risk mitigation, stakeholder communications, and project escalations.
• Coordinate execution across US and European engineering sites, suppliers, contract manufacturers, and external development partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• At least 5 years of project management experience in regulated Class II product development, focused on electro-mechanical hardware, medical devices, surgical power tools, capital equipment, or comparable products.
• Experience managing hardware development through prototype, EVT, DVT, and PVT phases, design transfer, manufacturing ramp, and international product launches.
• Knowledge of medical device quality and regulatory frameworks, including FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601, IEC 62366, FDA submissions, and EU MDR documentation.
• Experience with integrated schedules, WBS/IMS, critical-path management, budget baselining, forecasting, EVM, RAID management, supplier coordination, and structured escalation.
• Proficiency with project management, PLM, change-management, and documentation tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Planisware, Jira, Azure DevOps, or SAP PLM.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial robotics, robotic automation, robotic control software, prototyping, manufacturing technologies, or SAP Product Lifecycle Management.
• Experience combining hardware work packages with Agile or Lean software and firmware delivery.
