What you will do
- Define and validate system requirements for automated manufacturing solutions based on internal customer needs.
- Develop conceptual simulations and cycle time models to evaluate and recommend optimal production line architectures.
- Lead Design for Automated Manufacturing (DfAM) initiatives to improve manufacturability and reduce system complexity.
- Manage project execution from requirements through commissioning, maintaining alignment with budget and schedule.
- Identify and evaluate automation component suppliers and support procurement and sourcing decisions.
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for system requirements, design decisions, and project status.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the design, build, and commissioning of automated manufacturing systems.
- At least 2 years in a project management, technical lead, or equivalent leadership role on capital equipment projects.
- Hands-on technical experience in mechanical design, controls engineering, or both.
- Experience with automation simulation and cycle time analysis tools (e.g., Process Simulate, Visual Components, FlexSim).
- U.S. citizenship, national, permanent residency (Green Card), or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee status required.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with PLC, CNC, and robot programming concepts.
- Experience with welding, machining, drilling, surface finishing, NDT, metrology, or machine vision.
- PMP certification or formal project management training.
- Experience developing capital project budgets and performing vendor quote analysis.
- Ability to apply engineering first principles to novel manufacturing challenges.
