Salary: $127,104–$153,401 target annual pay range; full annual pay range of $113,955–$178,237.

What you will do

  • Perform core design, neutronics analysis, lattice physics generation, loading optimization, reload analysis, and safety-related physics evaluations.
  • Prepare core monitoring and COLR inputs, translate method limits and uncertainties into operational guidance, and support reactor engineering and startup physics.
  • Configure, validate, and maintain core monitoring software models for online core follow, margin tracking, and surveillance alignment.
  • Design and support neutron source assemblies, including mechanical and neutronics evaluations, instrumentation integration, and deployment strategies.
  • Develop and maintain licensed nuclear design methods, engineering reports, calculations, studies, specifications, and related design documentation.
  • Provide technical leadership, direct complex analysis, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate work across Nuclear Fuels, Engineering, Licensing, Operations, customers, and regulators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited four-year institution.
  • At least 8 years of directly relevant full-time engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with core design, neutronics, reactor engineering, and related safety analysis.
  • Practical knowledge and experience with PWR reactor physics analyses.
  • Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
  • Ability to travel nationally and locally and to work in accordance with applicable nuclear quality and safety standards, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience in fuel design or fuel performance.
