TL;DR
Receiving Inspector I/II (Aerospace) (CMM, mechanical and electrical inspection): Inspecting aerospace components and assembling flight mechanisms for spacecraft systems with an accent on precision measurement, traceable quality control, and production-drawing compliance. Focus on operating CMMs and inspection tools, documenting findings, creating standard operating procedures, and identifying process improvements.

Location: Onsite at hirify.global’s site in Silver Spring, Maryland, United States

Base Pay Range: $18–$27 USD per hour

What you will do

  • Inspect mechanical and electrical components before use in traceable spacecraft assemblies.
  • Operate and maintain CMMs, calipers, micrometers, gages, comparators, hardness testers, and other inspection tools.
  • Assemble spaceflight mechanisms using production drawings and written procedures.
  • Create standard operating procedures for specific mechanical parts.
  • Document and communicate inspection findings through standardized written and verbal reports.
  • Support shipping, receiving, and process-improvement activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Familiarity with common manufacturing processes and aerospace inspection tools.
  • Familiarity with aerospace assembly tools such as torque wrenches, force gages, load cells, and scales.
  • For Inspector II: 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a highly regulated production or manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Silver Spring, Maryland, stand or walk for at least 8 hours, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
  • For U.S. office roles, must meet applicable U.S. export-control and ITAR authorization requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with CMMs, ASME Y14.5, GD&T, simple electrical schematics, or aerospace engineering.
  • Strong technical and mechanical capabilities, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and experience in a small-company environment.
