Director of Discovery & Framing

Location: Remote - USA

Salary: $204,000–$276,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead high-value Discovery & Framing engagements with executives, mission leaders, operators, technical stakeholders, acquisition leaders, and other participants.
• Establish the Discovery & Framing methodology, playbook, question bank, templates, quality standards, and engagement model.
• Discover and frame root mission problems, current states, constraints, workarounds, measurable impacts, desired outcomes, and consequences of inaction.
• Map stakeholders, decision criteria, funding sources, acquisition paths, contracting paths, organizational barriers, and evidence gaps.
• Facilitate validation and deliver concise, customer-ready readouts with owners, dates, success criteria, and agreed next steps.
• Build, coach, and scale a team of Discovery & Framing practitioners while maintaining quality and personal involvement in strategic engagements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in strategy consulting, management consulting, customer strategy, value advisory, or a similarly structured client-facing problem-solving environment.
• Experience personally leading executive interviews, workshops, diagnostic engagements, and cross-functional working sessions.
• Strong capabilities in hypothesis-led discovery, issue structuring, root-cause analysis, Five Whys, stakeholder mapping, impact quantification, synthesis, and executive communication.
• Ability to learn complex mission contexts and translate across mission, operational, acquisition, business, and technical perspectives.
• Experience building, scaling, or leading consulting, strategy, advisory, professional services, or customer-facing teams.
• Must be able to work remotely from the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with complex, mission-driven, regulated, or highly secure organizations.
• Acquisition and contracting fluency, including experience connecting operational requirements to funding and acquisition.
• Familiarity with enterprise software, DevSecOps, cloud, cybersecurity, platform engineering, software delivery, or mission systems.
• Familiarity with MEDDPICC or another rigorous enterprise qualification methodology.
