Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Hybrid in Merritt Island, Florida or Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Travel up to 25%. U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.

Salary: $125,000–$135,000 per year in Merritt Island or $145,000–$165,000 per year in Bethesda, plus performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Lead the technical execution and quality of mechanical engineering projects for the Fed-Florida business unit.
• Design mechanical and plumbing systems, HVAC systems, fire protection, and life safety system integrations.
• Perform thermal and fluid dynamics calculations, equipment selection, energy efficiency analysis, facility assessments, and capital asset planning.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with other disciplines and support permitting, construction administration, field work, and construction management.
• Serve as Engineer of Record, Design Lead, Chief Engineer, or Design Manager when assigned.
• Support proposals and business development through scope reviews, design-build coordination, technical narratives, presentations, and subcontractor coordination.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 8+ years of professional Mechanical Engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer certification.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, NEC, and UFC codes; knowledge of FBC, IBC, IMC, IPC, AFMAN, and SSMAN requirements is preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and mechanical system modeling or drafting software such as CAD, Revit, or Bluebeam Revu.
• Valid and unrestricted Florida driver’s license, U.S. citizenship, and an active, interim, or obtainable Secret Security Clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of FBC, IBC, IMC, IPC, AFMAN, and SSMAN requirements.
• Experience with CAD, Revit, Bluebeam Revu, or other mechanical system modeling and drafting software.
