Building Engineer

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; onsite building operations role with assigned shifts that may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

What you will do

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, including pumps, chillers, boilers, compressors, and air handling units.
• Adjust HVAC equipment and controls, diagnose abnormal operating conditions, and resolve work orders.
• Repair and replace building fixtures, appliances, plumbing, electrical components, and other property systems.
• Participate in water treatment programs and maintain central plant, chemical consumption, inspection, and equipment operation logs.
• Operate and adjust fire alarm and life safety systems while following emergency, safety, environmental, and property procedures.
• Respond to tenant requests and maintain professional working relationships with tenants, contractors, and operations staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years of commercial HVAC or related experience.
• Successful completion of hirify.global' Introduction to Engineering training program and demonstrated proficiency in the applicable Engineering Assessment Guidelines.
• Ability to use testing equipment, multimeters, pressure and temperature devices, airflow meters, leak detection devices, hand tools, and power tools.
• Ability to read equipment manuals and instructions, perform basic mathematical calculations, use computer-based engineering programs, and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work safely in confined spaces and remote building areas, climb stairs and ladders, perform physically demanding tasks, and obtain applicable city or government licenses and permits.
