Scientific Software Engineer (Python)

Location: Longmont, Colorado, United States; U.S. Person status required

Salary: $105,000–$154,000 annually in Colorado, depending on experience, qualifications, skills, location, and market conditions.

What you will do

• Support RadCAM software systems in space operations and production environments.
• Design and architect services, monitor reliability, and provide software design and technical support.
• Develop, integrate, and test software within existing ground systems and CI/CD pipelines.
• Build automated unit, integration, and functional tests.
• Collaborate with scientists and remote sensing experts to commission satellite imaging sensors and improve radiometric calibration operations.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and data anomalies in ground and space environments while supporting delivery deadlines.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise qualify as a U.S. Person, including permanent residents, asylees, or refugees.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, aerospace engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 3 years with a master’s degree, a PhD, or equivalent experience.
• Strong software engineering, communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Experience with CI/CD deployment workflows and applications running on Linux.

Nice to have

• Python fluency and experience with aerospace or satellite ground systems.
• Experience with image processing, geospatial analysis, and remote sensing data.
• Experience with SOA, REST, JSON, Kubernetes, AWS, PostgreSQL, Docker, and virtual environments.
• Experience supporting AWS cloud infrastructure, microservice architectures, and production or test environments.
• Willingness and ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
