Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid role based in the Berlin, Germany; Haarlem, Netherlands; or Ljubljana, Slovenia office, with three office days per week.

Salary: Germany €60,900–€76,100 gross annually; Netherlands €59,200–€74,000 gross annually; Slovenia €45,600–€57,000 gross annually. The role may also include discretionary bonuses, commission, or equity.

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates a constellation of imaging satellites and a cloud-based platform for accessing and analyzing satellite imagery and derived geospatial products.

What you will do

• Build, deploy, and maintain large-scale distributed services and highly available APIs using Go, Java, and/or Python.
• Develop imagery access, data catalog, tile service, and geospatial analysis capabilities for customers.
• Write maintainable, observable, well-documented production code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers across cross-functional teams to align product and engineering goals.
• Operate services using Site Reliability Engineering practices, including performance measurement, load testing, alerting, dashboards, runbooks, and incident response.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and use AI tooling responsibly throughout the development lifecycle.

Requirements

• 4+ years of production software development experience, preferably with Python, Java, and/or Go.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geosciences, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with GCP or AWS, Docker containers, Git, large codebases, merge-request reviews, and complex CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with relational databases, document stores, and key-value stores.
• Strong software engineering, problem-solving, analytical, written, verbal, and collaborative communication skills.
• Availability to work from the Berlin, Haarlem, or Ljubljana office three days per week and participate in occasional team on-sites.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with geospatial concepts and standards, including GeoTIFF, GeoJSON, and STAC.
• Experience with remotely sensed products and associated metadata, including orthorectified products.
• Experience with observability platforms such as Grafana.
