Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid work from the Berlin, Germany; Haarlem, Netherlands; or Ljubljana, Slovenia office three days per week.

Salary: Germany €77,000–€96,300 EUR; Netherlands €75,000–€93,700 EUR; Slovenia €57,700–€72,100 EUR gross annually.

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates a large constellation of imaging satellites and a cloud-based platform for accessing and analyzing satellite imagery and derived geospatial products.

What you will do

• Build, deploy, and maintain performant distributed services and highly available APIs for imagery access and geospatial analysis.
• Develop production systems using Go, Java, Python, Postgres, Kubernetes, and major cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers across cross-functional teams to align product and engineering goals.
• Write maintainable, observable, well-documented code and participate in code reviews.
• Operate services through SRE practices, including performance measurement, load testing, dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and incident response.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and use AI tooling responsibly throughout the development lifecycle.

Requirements

• 6+ years of production software development experience, preferably with Python, Java, and/or Go.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geosciences, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with GCP or AWS, diverse data storage systems, Git, large codebases, complex CI/CD pipelines, and Docker containers.
• Strong understanding of software engineering practices, development methodologies, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal collaboration skills, including writing engineering design proposals and soliciting feedback.
• Ability to learn independently, navigate ambiguity, and apply AI tools appropriately in software development.

Nice to have

• Experience with geospatial concepts and standards, including GeoTIFF, GeoJSON, and STAC.
• Experience with remotely sensed products and related metadata, including ortho-rectified products.
• Familiarity with observability platforms such as Grafana.
