TL;DR
Quality Engineer (Manufacturing): Leading internal and external quality activities for mini-factories and sensing products with an accent on audits, supplier quality, continuous improvement, and manufacturing process controls. Focus on root cause analysis, non-conformance resolution, PFMEA and Control Plan maintenance, product launches, and ISO and customer regulatory compliance.

Location: Boxborough, MA, United States; domestic travel to customer or supplier sites may be required for less than 5% of working time.

Salary: $73,590–$136,730 per year

What you will do

  • Lead quality activities for assigned mini-factories and drive improvement in key quality metrics.
  • Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and resolution of complex quality issues.
  • Manage supplier non-conformances, containment, sorting, rework, inspections, and supplier communications.
  • Maintain PFMEAs, Control Plans, quality procedures, documentation, and RPN-reduction actions.
  • Support new product and process launches through APQP, FMEAs, Control Plans, PPAPs, validation, and risk reduction.
  • Conduct internal, customer, and supplier audits and maintain ISO and customer regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree required; an engineering degree is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience; other engineering experience or internships may be considered.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, project leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, regulations, quality procedures, and standards.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control, design of experiments, design for manufacturing, and Six Sigma problem-solving methods.
  • Ability to work onsite in Boxborough, Massachusetts, with less than 5% domestic travel.

Nice to have

  • Experience with welding, brazing, and machining fabrication processes.
  • Experience with automotive-style quality expectations.
  • ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 Lead Auditor certification.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
