Principal Product Designer (AI)

Location: United States of America; flexible hybrid work with occasional in-person events or team sessions.

Salary: $143,625–$299,375 per year, with potential discretionary annual bonus or commissions.

What you will do

• Lead design vision and interactive prototyping across hirify.global News and related consumer surfaces, including web news, Breaking News, Scout modules, Topic pages, Movies, Publisher profiles, onboarding, and subscriptions.
• Translate complex user needs and business strategies into coherent, high-quality product experiences.
• Develop bespoke interaction patterns and visual standards for editorial and cultural moments.
• Evolve design systems, visual patterns, and interaction principles across hirify.global News.
• Use Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and the design system to accelerate prototyping, visual exploration, and workflow efficiency.
• Collaborate with researchers, product managers, engineers, and design leadership; mentor junior designers and present design rationale to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing high-scale digital products across web and mobile platforms.
• Experience using and directing generative AI tools to construct, test, and optimize high-fidelity interactive prototypes.
• Deep expertise in product design, typography, layout, visual systems, and brand application for consumer surfaces.
• Ability to manage a broad portfolio of simultaneous workstreams while maintaining quality and velocity.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, including presenting to executive-level stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a flexible hybrid arrangement in the United States, including occasional in-person events or team sessions.

Nice to have

• Experience evolving a shared design system and creating bespoke patterns beyond established standards.
• A portfolio demonstrating AI-augmented design methods, visual craft, and interaction design.
• Experience in media, news, or high-scale consumer technology.
