Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace)

Salary: $110,000–$165,000 annually

What you will do

• Develop and mature quality-based, cost-effective manufacturing processes for aerospace production hardware.
• Review engineering drawings and apply DFMA principles during new product introduction.
• Design tooling, holding fixtures, and specialized cutting solutions for manufacturing operations.
• Analyze manufacturing process prove-outs, troubleshoot issues, and revise processes to improve yield and efficiency.
• Support continuous improvement, legacy hardware reviews, automation, advanced manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
• Provide technical ownership and support for gear production equipment, including hobbers and shapers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 6 years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience involving aerospace components.
• Strong knowledge of turning, milling, OD/ID, surface and jig grinding, and aerospace steel machining.
• Knowledge of gear and spline manufacturing, inspection methods, tooling, fixtures, engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D modeling.
• Experience with root-cause analysis and corrective action using quality methods such as 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams.
• Availability for onsite work in Torrance, California, on a 9/80 schedule.

Nice to have

• Experience with NX, Teamcenter, and Zeiss CMM inspection methods and reports.
• Experience with aerospace cylindrical components containing gears or splines.
• Familiarity with AS9100 requirements, heat treatment, plating, nondestructive testing, and aerospace painting processes.
• Experience specifying and purchasing capital equipment or implementing advanced manufacturing technologies.
