NPD Design Engineer (Aerospace) (Mechanical Design/FEA): Leading new product development programs from concept through qualification, production launch, and production support with an accent on compliant mechanical designs, structural analysis, and qualification testing. Focus on designing mechanisms and actuators, executing DOE and FEA, solving failure investigations, and coordinating technical execution across manufacturing, test, quality, and program management.
Location: Chandler, Arizona, United States; onsite. U.S. citizenship or qualifying U.S. person status is required due to export control requirements.
Salary: $83,400–$155,000 per year

What you will do
- Own the technical execution of multiple concurrent new product development programs from concept through qualification, production launch, and production support.
- Translate customer specifications into compliant engineering designs and compliance matrices.
- Design mechanical components, mechanisms, actuators, and assemblies, and prepare drawings, documentation, and technical data packages.
- Lead prototype development, troubleshooting, validation, qualification testing, and production launch activities.
- Develop Design of Experiments, engineering validation, and qualification test plans; perform structural analysis, FEA, failure investigations, and corrective actions.
- Present design reviews, technical status, risks, and test results while coordinating with Manufacturing, Test, Quality, Program Management, customers, and less experienced engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 6+ years of progressively responsible mechanical product development experience.
- Demonstrated experience designing components, mechanisms, or actuators and interpreting customer specifications.
- Experience applying Design of Experiments and using FEA or comparable structural simulation tools.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, failure investigation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Must be eligible to work under U.S. Government export control requirements; U.S. citizenship or qualifying U.S. person status is required.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in engineering.
- Experience with GD&T, DFMEA/FMEA, DFMA, and statistical analysis.
- Aerospace, defense, automotive, or other regulated product development experience.
- Experience qualifying products to MIL-DTL-23659 or similar military standards.
