Senior Network Security Engineer (Palo Alto)

What you will do

• Design, deploy, administer, and maintain Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewall environments using PAN-OS and Panorama.
• Design zero-trust security policies, network segmentation, microsegmentation, routing, NAT, VPN, decryption, and threat-prevention controls.
• Architect and troubleshoot Palo Alto high-availability deployments, including failover, synchronization, disaster recovery, and upgrades.
• Lead Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching operations, including VLANs, trunking, routing, STP, EtherChannel, HSRP/VRRP, ACLs, and QoS.
• Investigate complex network and security incidents using packet captures, firewall logs, session inspection, CLI diagnostics, and monitoring data.
• Integrate firewall telemetry with Cortex XSIAM and Strata Logging Service, lead root-cause analysis, document standards, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Must be located within the United States; fully remote opportunity.
• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience; 7+ years in network engineering, network security, firewall administration, or security infrastructure operations.
• At least 5 years of production enterprise experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and advanced Palo Alto Panorama administration.
• Strong experience with Palo Alto high availability, HA1/HA2/HA3, configuration and session synchronization, failover, and recovery.
• Expertise in TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, DHCP, ARP, routing, NAT, VPNs, packet-level troubleshooting, and Cisco enterprise switching.
• Must be able to attain and maintain AOUSC Public Trust suitability.

Nice to have

• Palo Alto or Cisco professional certifications.
• Experience with Prisma Access, Prisma Cloud, Cortex XDR/XSOAR, Cisco ISE, ACI, SD-Access, Fortinet, or cloud security services.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, SIEM/SOAR/EDR/XDR platforms, and network-access-control solutions.
• Automation skills with Python, Ansible, Terraform, REST APIs, or infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Experience supporting 24x7 environments, on-call rotations, critical incidents, and emergency changes.
