Firewall Security Engineer (Palo Alto Networks)

Location: Heredia, Costa Rica. The role starts remotely due to the launch of a new greenfield site and will transition to an onsite arrangement once the facility is ready.

What you will do

• Manage, monitor, and maintain enterprise, manufacturing, and Operational Technology firewall infrastructure.
• Configure and administer firewalls and related network security technologies according to security standards and best practices.
• Implement firewall policy changes through established change management processes.
• Maintain firewall platforms, software, and associated security systems through upgrades and lifecycle management.
• Document security architectures, configurations, procedures, and technical standards.
• Support disaster recovery, business continuity, incident response, on-call coverage, and scheduled maintenance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least 2 years of experience supporting, administering, and troubleshooting enterprise firewall and network security technologies.
• Knowledge of access control, security policy management, network segmentation, VPN technologies, and secure remote access.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and collaborate across global technical teams.
• Ability to transition from remote work to onsite work in Heredia, Costa Rica once the facility is ready.

Nice to have

• Experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Panorama, and GlobalProtect.
• Palo Alto Networks certification.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, Operational Technology, or other highly available environments.
