Staff Frontend Engineer (React)

Location: Remote, candidates must be in the United States or Canada and work in EST/CST time zones

Salary: $174,986–$209,983 USD per year in the United States; compensation is country-specific for other locations.

What you will do

• Lead multi-quarter technical initiatives from problem framing and user feedback through rollout and impact measurement.
• Build and evolve Grafana data visualizations, including dashboards, visualization components, and related user experiences.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design feedback, pairing, and technical leadership.
• Operate production software through on-call participation, incident response, and post-incident learning.
• Support customer escalations and identify high-friction areas in the product.
• Represent the squad in cross-team discussions, write design proposals, run demos, and contribute to roadmap decisions.

Requirements

• Experience leading technical projects, mentoring engineers, and providing technical direction.
• Experience operating production software, participating in on-call rotations, and responding to incidents.
• Strong frontend engineering experience with TypeScript and React.
• Ability to solve complex engineering problems independently in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
• Practical experience with AI technologies and frameworks.
• Commitment to users, contributors, transparency, pragmatic delivery, and collaborative engineering.

Nice to have

• Open-source contribution or maintainer experience.
• Interest in observability, including metrics, logs, and traces.
• Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, or other observability platforms.
• Experience working in a fully remote, globally distributed team.
