Manager, Workers' Compensation

Location: Tempe, Arizona, United States. Hybrid work with an on-site expectation of at least three days per week.

What you will do

• Manage workers' compensation claims from injury reporting through closure and serve as the main contact for employees, managers, insurers, TPAs, medical providers, and legal counsel.
• Investigate workplace injuries, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure claims comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Develop and maintain return-to-work, incident reporting, claim management, and workers' compensation policy programs.
• Analyze claims data, identify trends and risks, prepare leadership reports, and recommend cost-containment strategies.
• Oversee TPA performance through audits, service-level monitoring, claim reviews, and governance processes.
• Direct strategy for complex, litigated, and high-exposure claims, including defense counsel collaboration, settlement evaluation, mediation preparation, and authority recommendations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience managing workers' compensation claims or programs, risk management, employee health, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of workers' compensation regulations, claims management, return-to-work programs, OSHA reporting, and workplace injury management.
• Experience working with insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators.
• Experience interpreting and applying employment and workers' compensation laws.
• Proficiency with claims management systems, HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Office; ability to analyze claims data and present recommendations.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.

Nice to have

• CWCP, AIC, CDMS, or similar professional certification.
• Experience supporting a multi-state workforce or high-volume workers' compensation environment.
• Experience leading program enhancements, vendor management, or cost-containment initiatives.
• Knowledge of FMLA, ADA accommodations, leave management, and disability claims administration.
