Compounding Pharmacy Technician I

What you will do

• Perform supporting compounding tasks under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and train in at least one dosage form.
• Prepare, handle, and dispose of materials in accordance with USP standards, company procedures, and applicable laws.
• Apply aseptic techniques and clean and sanitize compounding areas, equipment, and tools.
• Document compounded medications, ingredients, lot numbers, and expiration dates.
• Monitor compounding supplies and place orders when needed.
• Collaborate with pharmacists and colleagues, cross-train across departments, and complete orders reliably and on time.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Entry-level pharmacy compounding experience; non-sterile compounding experience is preferred but not required.
• Must obtain and maintain a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license or registration when applicable through the state pharmacy board.
• Ability to follow SOPs, perform basic mathematical calculations, and use basic compounding skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and reliability.
• Ability to work with hazardous chemicals, pharmaceutical ingredients, and biological hazards while following PPE, hygiene, and USP 795, 797, and 800 requirements.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with veterinary medications, dosages, and compounding requirements.
• Experience with compounding equipment, automated compounders, and inventory management systems.
