Metrology Technician (Aerospace)

Location: Huntington Beach, California, United States; on-site. ITAR eligibility is required: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or applicant eligible to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.

What you will do

• Perform dimensional inspection of composite, machined, and assembled parts using 3D scanning systems and conventional inspection equipment.
• Build PolyWorks inspection projects from CAD models, establish alignments, define measured characteristics, and generate inspection reports.
• Translate engineering drawings, CTQ requirements, GD&T controls, and datum strategies into reliable inspection methods.
• Complete First Article Inspections and support AS9102 documentation, nonconformance investigations, corrective actions, and quality improvement activities.
• Maintain inspection data in the Matrix MES and develop Excel-based inspection templates, quality records, calibration records, and controlled documents.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Production, and Software teams to improve inspection methods, product quality, and manufacturing processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, industrial engineering, or a related technical field; recent engineering graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Experience with 3D CAD software and the ability to interpret 3D models, engineering drawings, and physical measurement data.
• Strong analytical, spatial-reasoning, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills with high attention to precision and data integrity.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, plus the ability to learn technically complex software and repeatable workflows.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, hands-on production environment and perform traditional inspection activities.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and perform standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying.

Nice to have

• Experience with PolyWorks Inspector, 3D scanning, structured-light scanning, photogrammetry, laser scanning, or portable metrology equipment.
• Experience with aerospace, composites, machining, precision manufacturing, inspection planning, or First Article Inspections.
• Familiarity with AS9100, AS9102, ISO 9001, Gage R&R, Measurement System Analysis, SPC, process capability, or engineering statistics.
• Experience with MES, ERP, PLM, or QMS platforms; advanced Excel skills; or exposure to ZEISS CALYPSO and CMM operation.
• Previous internship, co-op, laboratory, Formula SAE, aerospace club, manufacturing, machining, inspection, or other hands-on engineering experience.
