Mechanical Engineer VI - Test (Aerospace)

Location: Reno, Nevada, United States. The role requires approximately 10% travel and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Applicants must be a U.S. Person under ITAR and EAR requirements.

Salary: $183,065–$251,465 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead complex, large-scale, and high-risk mechanical testing programs, including test planning, assembly, data acquisition, and measurement.
• Apply statistical analysis, signal processing, and advanced test methodologies to interpret results and support verification and validation.
• Develop 2D and 3D CAD models, complex assemblies, and precise technical drawings using GD&T.
• Analyze structural, dynamic, thermal, and CFD models and apply engineering judgment to identify design and manufacturing issues.
• Support requirements analysis, risk management, reliability and safety activities, program planning, and procurement coordination.
• Evaluate solid rocket motor systems, including propellant chemistry, combustion, internal ballistics, thrust, and specific impulse.

Requirements

• 15 or more years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Advanced experience with testing environments, data acquisition, statistical analysis, measurement techniques, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of electromechanical actuators, igniters, pressure vessels, solid rocket motors, hot gas valves, and thrusters.
• Must be a U.S. Person and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
• Positive, cooperative, self-motivated, and professional approach.

Nice to have

• Rocket motor design and testing experience.
• Master of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
• Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
