Senior Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer I

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's headquarters. U.S. citizenship or other ITAR-eligible status is required for U.S. office roles.

Base pay: $115,000–$158,000 USD per year for California.

What you will do

• Support business development with proposals and mission concepts.
• Develop high-performance, lightweight satellite systems, mechanisms, deployment systems, and bus configurations.
• Create concepts and configurations for high-value science and interplanetary missions.
• Own component designs from concept through production, testing, and operations.
• Use hand calculations and FEA to guide design decisions, and lead design, manufacturing, and test reviews.
• Maintain CAD models, production drawings, procedures, schedules, vendor relationships, budgets, and project deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or another engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with CAD modeling and technical drawings.
• U.S. citizenship or eligibility under applicable ITAR authorization requirements is required.
• Ability to work in the Long Beach headquarters environment, including prolonged sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes.

Nice to have

• Active Secret or TS security clearance.
• Spacecraft or satellite design, deployment-system development, and rapid conceptual design iteration experience.
• Hands-on development and testing experience, including thermal and vibration test data analysis.
• Experience applying GD&T, generating requirements assessments and interface control documents, and taking products from concept to production autonomously.
• Master's or PhD in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
