Flight Test Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Salinas, California, United States; requires travel 25% of the time within 100 miles of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Base pay: $96,300–$120,400 per year.

What you will do

• Support development, company, and FAA certification ground and flight-test planning.
• Prepare test cards, operating limitations, advisories, test-readiness materials, and certification reports.
• Support flight-test events as a flight-test engineer or test conductor onboard the aircraft and in the control room.
• Coordinate with engineers, maintainers, technicians, and program management to achieve test objectives safely and efficiently.
• Participate in flight briefs, debriefs, flight-line test setup, safety review board meetings, and flight-test safety risk management.
• Analyze and communicate test results to flight-test and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in aerospace or mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Experience with data-analysis tools such as MATLAB and Python.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative and detail-oriented approach.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Class 3 medical certificate issued through an FAA-designated Aviation Medical Examiner.
• Willingness to travel 25% of the time within 100 miles of the San Francisco Bay Area.

• FAA pilot certificate.
• Hands-on experience with test assets in a laboratory or other testing environment.
