Flight Test Engineer (UAS)

Location: Remote designation, but the role requires being on-site in Atlanta, Georgia, with up to 25% domestic travel and outdoor field testing over 70% of the time.

Salary: $84,000–$95,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead technical flight testing and evaluation for DFR aircraft, hardware integrations, and system components.
• Serve as Pilot in Command during outdoor UAS operations and evaluate aircraft behavior across varied conditions.
• Write and adapt Python test scripts and use terminal interfaces to collect and analyze flight data.
• Troubleshoot physical and software discrepancies during bench testing and field missions.
• Document flight data, prepare technical test reports, and communicate actionable findings to engineering stakeholders.

Requirements

• Valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate for legal and safe UAS operation.
• Hands-on experience integrating physical components and assessing hardware compatibility in aircraft systems.
• Ability to interact with custom software through terminal interfaces and write or adapt Python scripts.
• Physical stamina for outdoor field testing over 70% of the time and ability to lift up to 55 lbs of equipment.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent flight-test and hardware experience.
• On-site presence in Atlanta and up to 25% domestic travel are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with experimental UAS flight testing or custom flight controllers.
