Development Test Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. authorizations is required for ITAR compliance.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 per year, plus potential stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, and commission fixtures for fluid, cryogenic, high-pressure, cyclic, environmental, mechanical, and structural testing.
• Plan, set up, execute, and troubleshoot live test events safely and efficiently.
• Analyze test data and document results through clear technical writing.
• Collaborate with design, analysis, manufacturing, and operations teams to improve testability and accelerate feedback cycles.
• Support the maturation of early-stage aerospace designs into flight-ready hardware.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of professional experience testing aerospace or spaceflight hardware.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline.
• Understanding of mechanical, propulsion, fluid, or structural systems.
• Strong data analysis skills using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
• Hands-on laboratory or test-stand hardware experience and the ability to manage multiple test campaigns.
• Must satisfy U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-pressure fluid systems, cryogenic systems, or hazardous test operations.
• Proficiency with instrumentation, DAQ systems, and sensor selection or integration.
• Experience developing test plans, automating test setups, and using NI, LabVIEW, PLCs, or similar platforms.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, FEA/CFD results, and system requirements.
• Experience in fast-paced R&D or startup environments.
