Coordinating Editor - Politics, MS NOW Digital

Location: Washington, D.C.; must be willing to work in Washington, D.C. Regular schedule is 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Friday, with flexibility as breaking news demands. Unrestricted work authorization in the United States is required.

Salary: $115,000–$130,000 per year

What you will do

• Identify distinctive political storylines and drive original reporting and scoops for MS NOW Digital.
• Coordinate with the Washington bureau and breaking news teams to deliver timely journalism.
• Track the 2028 presidential campaign, candidates, reporter deployment, and linear television plans.
• Lead live blog coverage as needed and edit or occasionally write breaking news and enterprise articles.
• Collaborate with editorial, platform, and production teams on headlines, push alerts, newsletters, and homepage presentation.
• Optimize coverage across platforms to improve reader engagement.

Requirements

• Experience as an assignment editor at a major news publication covering politics.
• 8+ years of newsroom experience and 8+ years in a strictly digital newsroom.
• Experience covering breaking news and political news.
• Exceptional news judgment and strong writing and editing skills.
• Ability to edit quickly and accurately while working in a fast-paced, high-pressure newsroom.
• Must be willing to work in Washington, D.C. and have unrestricted United States work authorization.
