Head of Editorial, Axios Live

Location: Remote-optional within the United States; travel required for major events and activations.

Starting salary: $180,000–$230,000 per year, depending on location, experience, and skills.

What you will do

• Set the editorial vision, strategy, and programming frameworks for events, summits, interviews, panels, roundtables, and executive forums.
• Lead editors, bookers, coverage leads, and managing editors, including team structure, performance management, and career development.
• Review and edit scripts, moderator notes, speaker introductions, marketing copy, run-of-show materials, recap stories, and social content.
• Coordinate editorial priorities, event coverage, resources, and promotion with the broader newsroom, Communications, Sales, and Partnerships.
• Connect booking and coverage by securing newsmakers and ensuring cohesive event language, live coverage, recaps, and post-event content.
• Identify new formats, verticals, revenue opportunities, and AI-enabled improvements across research, booking, production, and editorial workflows.

Requirements

• 12–15+ years of journalism or editorial experience, including significant leadership of teams and complex editorial operations.
• Significant experience in live news, events, television, video production, or related fields.
• Experience working in or closely with a newsroom and building strong cross-functional relationships.
• Excellent writing, copy editing, research, news judgment, and storytelling skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to lead and scale editorial teams, work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and make sound decisions.
• An extensive network of senior leaders, policymakers, CEOs, and other newsmakers, plus the ability to scout, pitch, and book editorially sound guests.

Nice to have

• Experience with video editing, live production, or broadcast.
• Background in media, policy, Capitol Hill, or political campaigns.
