Senior Software Engineer - Accounting & Ledger Systems (Crypto)

Location: Full-time onsite at the Palo Alto office, California, United States

Base salary: $180,000–$220,000 USD annually, depending on leveling and location, plus equity and an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Design and extend the core double-entry ledger, including accounts, postings, account types, and ledger structures.
• Own the chart of accounts and reporting surfaces connecting engineering data with financial statements and downstream reporting.
• Connect on-chain data with off-chain books through balance verification, reconciliation, and proof-of-reserve mechanisms.
• Partner with Engineering, Finance, Data Engineering, and Product to model legal-entity ownership, ledger placement, pricing, and reconciliation paths.
• Design extensible data models for margin, lending, staking, tokenized assets, and other financial products.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, chart-of-accounts design, financial statements, reconciliation, and audit requirements.
• Experience owning data-model design for systems where correctness is a primary product requirement.
• Strong system-design skills, including extensible schemas and APIs.
• Ability to review technical designs across multiple systems and communicate effectively with cross-functional partners.
• Ability to work full-time onsite in Palo Alto, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with crypto or blockchain infrastructure, on-chain balance models, custody, or wallet architecture.
• Experience with event-driven or Kafka-based service architectures.
• Experience in accounting architecture or financial-systems design reviews at a fintech or crypto company.
