Senior Software Engineer, Internal Fraud Platform

Location: Hybrid; candidates progressing to the offer stage may be asked to attend an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate services and pipelines that ingest fraud-related events from billing, signup, support, and other internal systems.
• Expose event data and contextual features for data-science and machine-learning models, then integrate model decisions into operational workflows.
• Create internal tools and workflows for Trust & Safety, Support, and Finance analysts to investigate flagged accounts and events.
• Own initiatives from problem definition through design, implementation, rollout, and ongoing operation.
• Build fault-tolerant systems that handle retries, failures, and high event volumes without losing or duplicating fraud signals.
• Establish architecture patterns, tooling choices, and engineering standards for a new 0-to-1 platform.

Requirements

• Five or more years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems or backend services in production.
• Experience designing and building data or event pipelines, such as with Kafka or Pub/Sub.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, service security, and standards including OpenAPI, OAuth, or JWT.
• Working knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Ability to troubleshoot effectively, communicate cross-functionally, and own ambiguous projects with limited existing infrastructure.

Nice to have

• Experience in fraud, risk, trust and safety, payments, billing, subscriptions, or transactional systems.
• Familiarity with machine-learning serving and feature-engineering concepts.
• Experience building internal tools or dashboards for analysts, support, or finance stakeholders.
