Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Fintech)

Location: Remote within the USA. Roles posted in New York, San Francisco, and Salt Lake City require hybrid attendance of 2–3 days per week in local offices. Candidates outside these areas may be eligible for relocation assistance.

Salary: $172,000–$215,000 for Tier 1 locations; $154,800–$193,500 for Tier 2 locations; $146,200–$182,750 for Tier 3 locations.

What you will do

• Design, build, and scale services and integrations for payments, billing, identity, and partner connectivity.
• Lead scoping, API design, implementation, and production rollouts with minimal oversight.
• Build robust, fault-tolerant systems with multiple external dependencies.
• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and scalable service-oriented architectures.
• Collaborate with product, design, engineering, and technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support platforms for payments, wallets, settlement finance, monitoring, and operational reliability.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of software engineering experience and 4 years of Java experience.
• Proficiency with Java, Spring Core/Web/Boot, Gradle, JUnit, and JVM memory, performance, and garbage-collection tuning.
• Experience with REST APIs, message queues, service-oriented architecture, scalable systems, and containerization.
• Experience with AWS, including EKS, Aurora RDS, ElastiCache, and DynamoDB.
• Experience working on globally distributed teams with strong ownership and cross-functional communication.
• Must be able to work remotely from the USA.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Git, and automation.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog.
• Experience with big data platforms such as Snowflake.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using CDK or Terraform.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and elevating engineering standards.
