Process Engineering Technician (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Bedford, Massachusetts, United States; onsite factory-floor role

Salary: $27–$34 per hour, depending on experience

What you will do

• Review questionable and non-conforming materials using defect libraries, reference images, and standard disposition criteria.
• Troubleshoot process defects and SPC out-of-control or out-of-specification events using structured response flows.
• Support root-cause investigations by gathering data, running checks, and documenting findings.
• Maintain defect libraries, response checklists, work instructions, process documents, and manufacturing certifications.
• Execute engineering runs on manufacturing equipment, collect measurement samples, and summarize results for engineering review.
• Work alongside manufacturing engineers on factory-floor trials while identifying and addressing safety and quality concerns.

Requirements

• Associate degree in engineering or a technical discipline, or equivalent manufacturing or technical experience; high school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in manufacturing, cleanroom, or production environments; semiconductor experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with SPC concepts, including out-of-control and out-of-specification conditions.
• Ability to visually inspect and measure materials consistently while following work instructions, response flows, and standard operating procedures.
• Strong documentation, technical writing, problem-solving, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work hands-on on the factory floor with a strong safety and accountability mindset.

Nice to have

• Two or more years of experience in semiconductor or precision-materials manufacturing.
• Experience with defect review, material disposition, quality inspection, engineering runs, DOEs, or metrology measurements.
• Working knowledge of SPC charts, control limits, 5 Whys, or fishbone analysis.
• Continuous-improvement mindset and willingness to learn new systems and tools.
