Director Underwriting

Location: Work At Home in Pennsylvania, United States; remote listing with a required physical work site. Travel requirement: 25%–50%.

What you will do

• Lead underwriting operations across designated functions or regions and manage multiple books of business.
• Hire, coach, develop, evaluate, and manage underwriting staff and productivity.
• Partner with Sales and Underwriting leadership to develop regional and functional book management strategies.
• Review complex renewal and prospect quotes, recommending changes to address adverse selection and financial risk.
• Provide insights and guidance to customers, sales leaders, and other stakeholders.
• Execute underwriting strategy, monitor performance and quality, and resolve operational risks and issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, finance, business, computer science, science, technology, or another quantitative discipline; relevant experience may substitute.
• At least 7 years of relevant underwriting, risk management, or actuarial experience applying advanced mathematics or quantitative analysis.
• At least 5 years of leadership experience.
• At least 5 years of external client interaction or comparable external interaction.
• Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills, with knowledge of health plan products, services, and risk assessment techniques.
• Must work from the Pennsylvania work-at-home location and meet the physical work-site requirement.
