Senior Embedded Linux Developer (IoT)

Location: Hybrid role based in Theale, near Reading, with typically 3 days per week in the office. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.

What you will do

• Design and develop robust C applications and systems software for i.MX93 Buildroot-based embedded Linux systems.
• Own development across architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and long-term field operation.
• Create unit and system-level automated tests and contribute to CI pipelines.
• Improve development tools, engineering processes, and technical practices.
• Integrate software and hardware components while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Participate in technical discussions and code reviews and contribute to future IoT product architectures.

Requirements

• Excellent C knowledge and experience developing robust embedded systems.
• Strong Git skills and familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Strong understanding of secure system design and implementation best practices.
• Experience configuring and managing Linux networking, including routing, firewalls, VPNs, and resilient multipath connectivity.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across software, hardware, and product teams.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to work from the Theale office typically 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience programming in C++ or Python.
• Experience creating JSON and schemas.
• Experience developing lightweight web-based user interfaces.
