AI Software Engineering Lead

Location: Remote, with a preference for candidates based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, or Loveland, Colorado, United States

Salary: $180,000–$200,000 CAD per year, plus bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Partner with software and firmware engineering teams to implement AI-assisted development practices.
• Coach engineers on AI-assisted coding, testing, documentation, refactoring, and debugging.
• Develop reusable AI engineering standards, prompt libraries, playbooks, and frameworks.
• Lead workshops, hackathons, and technical bootcamps.
• Evaluate emerging AI development technologies and coding agents while helping modernize legacy systems.
• Establish KPIs and drive collaboration across Water Quality operating companies.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Codex, as well as large language models, agentic workflows, or AI-powered engineering platforms.
• Experience developing commercial software with modern programming languages including C#, Python, Java, TypeScript, or C++.
• Experience with cloud-native platforms, SaaS applications, APIs, containers, and CI/CD environments.
• Deep expertise in modern software development practices.

Nice to have

• Experience across software and embedded or firmware development environments.
• Experience with IoT, industrial automation, instrumentation, or connected products.
• Experience leading DevOps, platform engineering, architecture, or developer productivity initiatives.
• Experience implementing organizational change management in technology teams.
• Knowledge of water quality, environmental monitoring, laboratory, utility, compliance, or industrial technology markets.
