TL;DR
Event Technician (Audio/Visual and Event Production): Providing technical support for athletic events, concerts, meetings, and special events across campus facilities with an accent on sound, lighting, equipment maintenance, and event advancement. Focus on troubleshooting live technical issues, coordinating production crews and vendors, and managing complex event setups and tear-downs.

Location: On-site at hirify.global sports facilities in Montana, United States. Work includes athletic venues, stadiums, arenas, and outdoor areas, with evenings, weekends, holidays, long shifts, and occasional emergency response required.

Salary: $21.50–$25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.

hirify.global’s Sports Facilities department manages multi-purpose athletic and event venues, including Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, Bobcat Stadium, Shroyer Gym, the South Dome, and outdoor fields.

What you will do

  • Provide technical support for athletic events, concerts, meetings, trade shows, and other special events.
  • Manage, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot audio/visual, lighting, scoreboard, video, electrical, and other technical equipment.
  • Recommend system improvements, manage inventory, purchase equipment, and coordinate repairs with vendors.
  • Advance concerts and events with artists and production teams, including load-ins and technical rehearsals.
  • Work with campus departments, university IT teams, clients, and off-campus A/V vendors to meet technical requirements.
  • Schedule and train event crews, participate in event setups and tear-downs, and occasionally serve as an event manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in electrical, information technology, engineering, technical theater, or a related field, plus relevant progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical, electronic, and mechanized systems.
  • Practical experience with event sound and lighting.
  • Strong computer, problem-solving, organization, judgment, customer service, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to operate and maintain tools, electronic instruments, mechanized equipment, audio/visual systems, and office equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license required; an out-of-state license must be replaced with a Montana license within 60 days.

Nice to have

  • Experience with intercollegiate athletic events and technical or event production management.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of theatrical or arena rigging, stage construction, show power, electrical work, exhibition setups, meeting rooms, stadium events, and Daktronics scoreboards and video boards.

Culture & Benefits

  • Classified hourly appointment at 0.75 FTE with approximately 30 hours per week.
  • Benefits eligible.
  • Schedule follows the event calendar, with emphasis on nights and weekends and occasional increases to 40 hours per week.
  • Work may involve heights, tight spaces, stairs, inclement weather, safety equipment, and moving items weighing up to 75 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship.
