Senior Counsel – Corporate Litigation (Privacy, Cybersecurity & Technology Focus)

Location: Hybrid in Bethesda, MD; New York, NY; or Chicago, IL, with 3 days onsite per week

What you will do

• Lead privacy, cybersecurity, data breach, and emerging digital-risk litigation, including class actions and multi-plaintiff matters.
• Manage all phases of litigation, including case assessment, preservation, discovery, motion practice, expert strategy, and trial preparation.
• Direct privileged investigations involving data incidents, unauthorized access, insider misuse, privacy complaints, and regulatory inquiries.
• Partner with Information Security, Technology, Privacy, Compliance, SIU, Finance, Operations, and business units on incident response, remediation, and litigation strategy.
• Manage complex commercial, corporate, intellectual property, and other high-exposure disputes.
• Advise senior leadership on litigation trends, legal exposure, business impact, and remediation options.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 10+ years of litigation experience in a law firm, government agency, and/or in-house legal department.
• Substantial experience with privacy, cybersecurity, data breach, or technology-related litigation and investigations.
• Working knowledge of federal and state privacy, data security, consumer protection laws, and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong analytical, communication, prioritization, stakeholder-management, and business judgment skills.

Nice to have

• Experience defending privacy or data breach class actions.
• Experience with incident response, forensic vendors, and regulatory investigations.
• Intellectual property, patent, professional malpractice, trial, or appellate litigation experience.
• Prior in-house experience or experience advising corporate, business, technical, or product teams.
• Leadership capability appropriate for a Senior Counsel role.

Hiring process
