Associate General Counsel, Litigation (Consumer Finance)

Location: Remote within hirify.global’s states of operation in the United States; local or 100% remote. Eligible states include AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI.

Annual base salary: $176,700–$195,300 for Tier 3, $190,000–$210,000 for Tier 2, or $211,850–$234,150 for Tier 1, depending on geographic location and experience.

What you will do

• Lead hirify.global’s litigation portfolio across home equity investment and other consumer finance products.
• Set litigation strategy for lawsuits, arbitrations, class actions, regulatory matters, subpoenas, and investigative demands.
• Direct outside counsel, negotiate and manage litigation budgets, and monitor performance across multiple matters.
• Manage pre-litigation intake, demand letters, early case assessments, arbitration strategy, and internal fact investigations.
• Coordinate with compliance and business partners to align litigation positions with regulatory expectations and internal policies.
• Track litigation trends, risk exposure, outcomes, and legal spend for senior management.

Requirements

• J.D. and active bar membership in a U.S. jurisdiction; California membership preferred.
• Eligibility for in-house practice in the candidate’s state of domicile and residence in one of hirify.global’s operating states are required.
• 5+ years of defense-side litigation experience involving consumer finance.
• Experience managing civil and regulatory subpoenas, investigations, outside counsel, and litigation budgets across a multi-matter portfolio.
• Knowledge of consumer protection and lending laws, including TILA/Regulation Z, HOEPA, FCRA, FDCPA, RESPA/Reg X, UDAAP, and state UDAP laws.
• Experience with financial services products and complex, multi-jurisdictional litigation.

• Class action defense, high-volume consumer claims, or arbitration practice.
• Mortgage servicing, foreclosure, or bankruptcy-adjacent litigation experience.
• Large law firm litigation defense, federal clerkship, or experience using legal AI tools in litigation.
