In-House Privacy & Info Security Counsel

Location: Chicago, Illinois; hybrid work arrangement with the majority of time spent on-site in the West Loop office. Occasional travel to the Bloomington corporate headquarters may be required.

Salary: $185,000–$280,000 per year, with potential yearly incentive pay of up to 30% of base salary.

What you will do

• Provide legal guidance on federal and state privacy and information security laws.
• Advise on enterprise risk management, compliance and ethics programs, and data retention.
• Support AI and machine learning initiatives, AI governance, and technology-related matters.
• Counsel on crisis management, AML/OFAC, business continuity, telematics, and regulatory, contractual, and reputational risks.
• Collaborate with business, technology, security, and other cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state and membership in good standing of the bar.
• Applicants must be eligible to work lawfully in the United States immediately; visa sponsorship is not available.
• If not licensed in Illinois, obtain an in-house limited license and apply to the Illinois Board of Admissions within 90 days of starting.
• At least 5 years of experience with privacy or information security laws and regulations and/or risk or compliance programs.
• Strong understanding of AI governance, data lifecycle risk management, and the evolving AI and cybersecurity regulatory landscape.

Nice to have

• Current CIPP/US and/or CIPT certification.
• Experience anticipating legal issues and applying practical, preventative law.
