Manufacturing Engineering Lead (CNC Machining)

Location: Onsite in Buffalo, New York, United States

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of Manufacturing Engineers supporting a diverse CNC machining environment.
• Act as the technical expert for machining processes, manufacturing strategy, and continuous improvement.
• Support CNC turning, milling, Swiss machining, grinding, EDM, and related machining operations.
• Improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance through process optimization.
• Provide hands-on CAD/CAM programming, troubleshooting, process development, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.
• Partner with Operations, Quality, and Engineering while supporting training plans, machine risk assessments, capital equipment planning, and long-term manufacturing strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field with at least five years of relevant experience, an associate degree with at least nine years of relevant experience, or 13 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
• Hands-on experience in a CNC machining environment.
• Strong CAD/CAM programming experience and knowledge of machining process development.
• Experience with multiple machining technologies, including CNC turning, milling, Swiss machining, grinding, EDM, or multitasking machines.
• Strong knowledge of tooling, fixturing, process optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause problem-solving.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, machinists, and cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Technical leadership, team lead, supervisory, or mentoring experience.
• Experience leading Manufacturing Engineers in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment.
• Capital equipment planning, machine replacement strategy, and manufacturing risk assessment experience.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, industrial, or highly regulated manufacturing.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
