Manager, Production Operations - Machine Shop (Aerospace Manufacturing)

Location: Middleton, Wisconsin, United States. Onsite machine shop leadership role. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations.

Salary: $103,166.00–$141,872.75 per year.

What you will do

• Lead daily machine shop operations, job planning, machinist assignments, production rates, and work-order routing.
• Build, mentor, and develop machinists, programmers, and technicians through evaluations, goal setting, and training.
• Lead safety initiatives, PPE compliance, risk mitigation, shop organization, equipment maintenance, and preventive-maintenance training.
• Optimize CNC, multi-axis, and aerospace-grade machining processes, including 5-axis machining and automation.
• Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, quality, project management, and the Colorado machine shop to improve manufacturability and coordinate workload.
• Manage inspection reports, non-conformance reports, part documentation, and production communications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of machining and precision manufacturing experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Expertise in CNC machining, multi-axis milling, tight-tolerance manufacturing, and aerospace materials such as titanium, Inconel, and aluminum.
• Experience managing and optimizing machining centers for efficiency, throughput, and process reliability.
• Strong team leadership, mentoring, accountability, and technical-excellence skills.
• Proficiency with CAM software such as Mastercam or NX, ERP/MES systems, and production-monitoring tools.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling aerospace machining operations, optimizing cycle times, and implementing automation.
• Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP, and ITAR compliance.
• Experience with additive manufacturing, advanced material processing, lean manufacturing, GD&T, Six Sigma, or SPC.
• Advanced degree and hands-on experience with both CNC and manual machining.
