Software Engineer (Power BI)

Location: Richmond, VA, United States

Salary: $74,320–$127,710 annual base salary range across U.S. locations; may also include participation in the annual incentive plan.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, visualizations, and datasets.
• Build and optimize star-schema data models, relationships, and calculated measures using DAX.
• Load and integrate data from SQL databases, Databricks, APIs, cloud data warehouses, and flat files.
• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and reporting data pipelines.
• Collaborate with business analysts, product managers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications.
• Implement data governance, deployment, testing, documentation, monitoring, and troubleshooting practices for BI solutions.

Requirements

• US work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not provided now or in the future.
• At least 2 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or business intelligence development.
• At least 2 years of hands-on Power BI experience, including Power BI Desktop, Service, Report Builder, and complex DAX.
• Strong SQL skills, including advanced queries, optimization, stored procedures, and views.
• Experience integrating Power BI with Azure services such as Synapse, Azure SQL Database, and Databricks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, plus strong communication and analytical skills.

Nice to have

• Python for automation or advanced analytics.
• Agile/Scrum experience.
• Git version control and CI/CD for BI deployments.
• Experience with Power Automate and Power Apps.
