Sr. Software Engineer - Analytics Engineering (Power BI)

Location: Hybrid work with required reporting to Austin, Texas or Somerset, New Jersey; ability to travel 10% required.

Salary: $125,000–$140,000 annual base salary.

What you will do

• Design, build, optimize, and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI semantic models using Power BI Desktop, Tabular Editor, and related tools.
• Develop advanced DAX measures and calculations for complex business logic, reporting, and analytical use cases.
• Deliver Microsoft Fabric analytics solutions across lakehouse, warehouse, data pipeline, dataset, dataflow, report, and semantic model components.
• Implement row-level security, incremental refresh, performance tuning, and reliability improvements.
• Partner with data engineers, analysts, report developers, and business stakeholders to deliver trusted analytics solutions.
• Support BI governance through documentation, data quality practices, Microsoft Purview alignment, version control, training, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Advanced expertise in analytics engineering, semantic modeling, enterprise reporting, data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and star schema design.
• Strong proficiency with DAX and experience designing complex business calculations.
• 5+ years of experience developing Power BI solutions, including semantic models, reports, and enterprise analytics assets.
• Hands-on experience with Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, ALM Toolkit, and Microsoft Fabric analytics workloads.
• Familiarity with lakehouse storage concepts, Parquet and Delta formats, Agile delivery, and GitHub or similar version control tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or relevant work experience.

Nice to have

• Certification in Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or related Microsoft data platforms.
• Experience using Python for data analysis, automation, or analytics engineering workflows.
• Experience with PowerApps automation and Copilot Studio.
