Network & Cybersecurity Engineer

Location: Bingen, Washington, United States; 50% onsite with flexible remote work. Minimal domestic and international travel required. Must be a US Person under the ITAR definition and hold current US work authorization.

Salary: $97,000–$155,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, and geographic differential.

What you will do

• Design and evolve network architectures for VPNs, firewalls, RF relays, Starlink links, and ground control stations.
• Configure and maintain routing, network services, VPN infrastructure, and firewalls across Windows and Linux environments.
• Diagnose intermittent RF and satellite links, latency, packet loss, interference, routing, and connectivity issues through remote and occasional in-field support.
• Build network monitoring, logging, alerting, health checks, dashboards, and diagnostic tools.
• Apply segmentation, encryption, secure remote access, authentication, access control, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
• Document network topologies, secure configurations, operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and standards across deployment sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, information technology, or a related field.
• At least five years of hands-on network engineering, systems administration, or field communications experience beyond primarily tier-1 support.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting VPNs, firewalls, routing, and network security policies across Windows and Linux.
• Experience with wireless/RF networking and satellite communications, including degraded, intermittent, or high-latency links.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, NAT, DNS, and DHCP; experience with n2n or similar VPNs and pfSense, iptables/nftables, or Windows Defender Firewall.
• Experience with PowerShell or Python for diagnostic tools and health checks, plus the ability to stabilize and improve existing network environments.

Nice to have

• Field, remote, expeditionary, tactical communications, WISP, industrial, or SCADA networking experience.
• Experience securing aerospace, defense, or field-deployed networks.
• Familiarity with RMF, NIST SP 800-53, DISA STIGs, vulnerability assessments, patching, and remediation.
• CCNA, CCNP, Security+, CCNP Security, CISSP, military communications training, or equivalent experience.
