Cybersecurity Engineer – Patch Management, Testing & Automation (Cybersecurity)

Location: Onsite at the Frederick, Maryland facility; U.S. citizenship is required.

Salary: $96K–$130K total compensation annually, including base salary and variable pay where applicable.

What you will do

• Develop and improve patch management processes for operating systems, network devices, applications, firmware, appliances, and embedded components.
• Evaluate vulnerabilities, CVEs, vendor advisories, and updates for applicability, operational impact, and remediation effectiveness.
• Create and execute patch testing plans, laboratory tests, regression tests, security validation, and interoperability testing.
• Build automation, reusable scripts, secure baselines, configuration validation workflows, and standardized cybersecurity tools.
• Support vulnerability scanning, system hardening, DISA STIG, CIS Benchmark, NIST control, architecture, threat modeling, and product security activities.
• Coordinate deployments, acceptance testing, customer assessments, technical troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration with engineering teams in Europe and North America.

Requirements

• BS degree in cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related technical field; a master's degree is preferred.
• At least 7 years of relevant cybersecurity, systems engineering, network engineering, testing, automation, DevSecOps, or related experience.
• Experience with patch and vulnerability management, security update testing and deployment, technical test plans, regression testing, and system validation.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, ACLs, network segmentation, and Linux or Windows security administration.
• Experience with scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, APIs, or similar technologies, plus tools such as Nessus, Nmap, or Wireshark.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident able to obtain an interim or final suitability determination after a favorable background investigation.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cisco, Fortinet, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, configuration management, Git, or DevSecOps practices.
• Knowledge of aviation, transportation, defense, safety-critical, mission-critical, or critical infrastructure systems.
• Familiarity with VoIP/SIP/RTP, RF communications, embedded systems, appliances, and real-time systems.
• Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, GSEC, Security+, SecurityX, CCNA Security, or CCNP Security.
