TL;DR
Systems Engineer II (RF/Defense): Architecting and validating IFF systems for military and civilian air-traffic operators with an accent on requirements decomposition, system and interface documentation, integration testing, and customer coordination. Focus on designing RF and radar system elements, managing requirements in DOORS, supporting PDR/CDR reviews, and performing laboratory and post-delivery field testing.

Location: Farmingdale, New York, United States; onsite engineering design and testing

Salary: $87,088–$145,146 per year, with a possible annual or quarterly bonus.

What you will do

  • Support systems engineering activities for small- and medium-sized IFF programs across the full product lifecycle.
  • Clarify and decompose customer requirements for engineering disciplines and manage requirements using DOORS.
  • Develop system design, interface, requirements, test, and integration documentation.
  • Support preliminary and critical design reviews, technical interchange meetings, verification events, and customer interactions.
  • Perform laboratory testing with oscilloscopes, analyzers, and other advanced test equipment.
  • Provide post-delivery field testing and technical support, including occasional overnight travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics.
  • At least 5 years of systems engineering experience.
  • Experience generating system requirements, design documentation, and interface documentation.
  • Familiarity with standard test equipment, including oscilloscopes and analyzers.
  • Must be a US citizen and have a background permitting the US Department of Defense to issue a Secret clearance.
  • Must comply with US export-control requirements, including ITAR, EAR, and OFAC procedures.

Nice to have

  • Experience with IFF, military, civilian air-traffic control, RF, radar, or SSR systems.
  • Knowledge of antennas, receivers, transmitters, and processors.
  • Data analysis experience with MATLAB or an equivalent tool.
  • MBSE experience with Cameo or an equivalent tool.
  • Cybersecurity or safety certification experience.
